Virtual AETC

The Alabama Educational Technology Conference has been canceled for this year due to proration. The good news is that a "Virtual AETC" is being planned. That constitutes the bare bones of what you would need to know at this point.

For those who are a little more interested in the subject, I have posted some additional information that I know at this point and some personal reflections on my own blog. If you are interested, that post is here.

Presenting at AETC

Presenter applications are currently being taken for the Alabama Educational Technology Conference. The deadline to submit applications is December 19. This year’s AETC theme, Passport to the Future, opens the door for a broad spectrum of proposal topics.

You may submit a proposal online by clicking here: www.aetc.cc and choosing the appropriate link on the left-hand side of the screen.

Last summer, one of our own presented and had an audience of 200 (It wasn't me, although I wish it was!).

I would be glad to talk individually with anyone who is interested in submitting a proposal. I have programs from previous years so that you can see what kinds of things are being presenting and what kinds of descriptions are being used.

Having been involved with this event for quite a few years now, I can tell you that participants come to this event with holes in their knowledge base, and these holes often occur at a fairly low level. (I include myself in that statement.) The person who has found a simple, workable, solution to a common problem will have no problem attracting an audience waiting to hear the answer.

Alabama Educational Technology Conference

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more The Alabama Educational Technology Conference will be held June 17-19 at the BJCC in Birmingham. The school system will pay for the lead technology person at each school and the first 10 teachers who complete the registration form and get it to Kay Busby.

If you are interested in attending:
  1. Download the registration by clicking here.
  2. Complete the form.
  3. Send the form to Kay Busby and be one of the first 10.
AETC is an excellent conference and the workshops are very practical. You can view the preliminary program here. The keynote is Dr. Tim Tyson. For more information and a link to the closing keynote that Dr. Tyson gave at last year's National Educational Computing Conference, click here. He is very dynamic.

In selecting sessions to attend, anything that Patrick Crispin does is excellent. As far as local people, I will be presenting the following workshops:
  • Get Organized With Outlook (one hour session)
  • Get Orgainzed With Outlook (three-hour hands-on workshop)
  • Your Own Blog in 10 Minutes or Less
  • Get Organized! Managing Digital Data With Ease
Pattie Thomas will be presenting "Powerful and Easy Presentations With Photostory"
